Cinematographer job role
A cinematographer is the head of the camera and light department and plays a major role towards film. As part of the role they work closely with the director to create the look and feel of the production. Their first task is to research and identify the photographic heart of a screenplay and to prepare in order to achieve this. They also carry out technical roles on locations such as prepare lists of required equipment and test camera lenses, filters and they decide on which lighting will be the best. Also, they test different types of camera movements to identify which will be the best for their production. The director also helps to block shots during rehearsal. They also attend the digital grading of the film. The term cinematographer is sometimes sued to describe director of photography who also operated the camera.
